Every two years, the U.S. Department of Energy sponsors a Solar Decathlon competition. Limited to 800 sq. feet in floor space, sustainable and energy effiicient model homes are design and built on the National Mall in Washington, DC by university teams from around the world. The latest competititon was held September-October 18, 2009.
